I am interested in buying a JVC DRM20 recorder - on checking the specifications under the heading of recordable formats, there is reference to DVD-R (dubbinbg only). Does anyone know what this means? i.e dubbing only?

    Thanks in advance

Dubbing means copying from the HDD to DVD. So this would imply that you can't record directly to DVD-R, but you can record to HDD, then copy (dub) to DVD-R.
I'm not sure if I believe this, the manual doesn't mention it. But I've never recorded directly to DVD-R anyway...
