After deciding to upgrade my Amp and speakers, I guess its about time to upgrade my DVD player too!

I have an old Sony S-715 at the moment, great CD performance etc. But it doesnt have DTS output....
I am looking for a player to replace it, I want good movie performance, and also good at playing CDs too.

    I was looking at either:
    Toshiba 520
    Pioneer 656
    Sony DVPNS900
    Sony DVPNS700

Preferably multi-region. I don't want to spend much more than £200....

Tell me if I am wrong but aren't a couple of these players over £200?

The Pioneer is the winner I reckon. It's no mean performer and does SACD and DVD-A.

Was that including VAT,Techtronics prices always look good till you see the plus VAT bit!
This player typically goes for about £300+ a bit.

    Oli,

Remember that Techtronics are ex-VAT prices so add 17.5% to your bill to come up with the VAT price.

If Multi Channel music is on your agenda then save for the Pioneer (best price Multi Region player is about £330). It can handle SACD & DVD-A. The Tosh only DVD-A & Sony SACD only.

The Tosh 520 can be had multiregion from dvdplayers.co.uk for £215 delivered. My price-point was 200 so I stretched it a bit to get what is basically a 510 with new face and £100+ less. DVD-Audio, component out and NTSC prog scan.

Forgot to add, the 520 does NOT do DTS only DD. Sorry.

I dont need decoding, just stream out :)

Looks like the toshiba could be the thing...

I'm not really interested in multichannel music, just stereo really!

    Hello.

Richer Sounds are selling the Sony DVP-NS900V for £200 (Region 2) and £250 (Multiregion). I would say for that price you should buy one, it's a great machine. Try to see if you can get hold of one as they might be out of stock :-(

I have bought one from Richer Sounds in black. It is a European CE model, with a UK plugs converter and english manual. The Multiregion hack seems to be done via the remote Hex codes. It has played my R1 titles (not tried any RCE) and all of my DVD-R's.
