    Hi
I'm looking for a good DVD/CD player up to £400,to go with a Denon 1602 amp and a set of Energy take 5 speakers.Primarily H/C but also music.
I'd rather pay a bit more than get a cheap one,is this a good idea and what should i look at.

    Thanks....Paul.

I would look at the Sony 900 for about £320 multi region (www.webelectricals.co.uk)

Good picture and sound plus the bonus of SACD, which in multi channel should sound good with your 5 identical speakers.

I have just three words: Toshiba, Toshiba, Toshiba.

Whatever budget you've got for a DVD player, a Toshiba will give you absurd value for money. For £400 you want to be looking at the SD510.

p.s. This opinion is formed from having owned both a budget Tosh (the SD100E), and the reference model (SD900E).

I had my first listen of SACD through my mates sony 900 last week and it blew me away - Herbie Hancock's Headhunters is amazing. Normal CD is good also. At £320 - £350 this player has to be the bargain of the year.
