Hi, Looking to buy a new DVD player. Must be multi region. play CDR/W and MP3 CD's oh and DVD's Linking it to a Marantz 4200 and Panasonic 36inch TV. Any ideas on a good buy for me. Thank you in advance.
Tosh SD-220 + ~£10-£15 = Tosh 420 Spec = 220 +Dolby Digital Decoder (Do you really need one these days ) +1/2 Mirror luxury finish + NTSC>PAL50 convertor Use one of the price checking websites to find best deal
get the tosh 220 for £120 from amazon.co.uk and then multi region it yourself with the download from http://sd220e.chez.tiscali.fr/ I did it myself yesterday and it really is a very good player, it plays svcd, vcd and mp3 too.
Sorry if this a daft question, but what is the benefit of : I've just ordered a 220e, so am wondering if it's worth changing it to a 420. Cheers, Kris.
It means if your TV doesn't support a NTSC signal, the DVD player can convert it to PAL50. Really depends on whether your TV can accept a NTSC signal or not (most modern ones do) If your TV didn't support NTSC, the most likely outcome is the picture would be black and white.
Holtehero, Thanks, my Panny TV supports an NTSC signal so PAL50 isn't needed. Think I'll stick to the Tosh 220e. Cheers, Kris.
Maybe the new Sony 705. It plays DVD,SACD,CD,VCD,MP3,DVD-R/RW... erm.. pritty much everything. Not bad for £199 Multi-region
Definitely the tosh 220. Ive been using the tosh 210 for a year and im more than happy with it. Also the tosh has component output which makes a big difference if you have a screen that can take advantage of it. Regards
