Well, as the title really. I'm looking for a DVD player (hoping to pick one up second hand) which also sounds decent with music using it's analogue outs. HDMI not essential. - Proably max £200

What should I be looking for?

    Thanks,

    SB

Don't know but I'd like one too! However, I'm looking a musical DVD player that not only plays DVD-A & SACD but plays them reasonably well.

Philips 963SA, £99 at Play.com at the moment (bargain!) and sounds fantastic with music. Does SACD too (which sounds even more fantastic!).

    Cheers

I agree with zAndy1, I have a DVD963SA, and it plays CDs better than my Marantz CD6000OSE. DVD and SACD playback are very good to.

Denon apparently do some good universal players that do DVD-A, SACD and I presume DVD Video. From some reviews I've seen they seem to be preferrable because they have proper bass management (something to do with the fact the audio has to come out of these players by analogue cables especially with SACD and DVD-A's MLP format as most amps don't decode these).

Still deciding myself. I'm thinking of getting one that's HD ready, i.e. upscales to 720p and has DVI or HDMI sockets.

You may have njp - it's also showing as "waiting for stock" :(

Luckily I have one winging its way to me at the moment - I'll be able to compare video abilities to my Panny DVD97 and its audio abilities against my Limit DVD900SE, which is excellent at playing CDs. Can't wait for it to arrive

You could try the Limit DVDa900Se which play are doing at £50 which is tuned by Cyrus and it sounds excellent with music. This was a very good £200 player just over a year ago.
