My Philips back projection TV has just been pronounces irreparable and written off. I have used the insurance money to buy a Philips 30” LCD TV. When attaching my Limit 9900SE via its component inputs and I can see the DVD logo screen produced by the player clearly. The Philips confirms it is receiving a 576p signal.

When I press play on the DVD player the problem begins: The picture is very unstable and jumps about all over the place.

On changing to NTSC 480p I get a good picture on the TV but with a black border on the left of the picture.

This is the first time I have tried out Pal progressive input from myDVD player so I am not sure which bit of equipment is at fault.

Any ideas anyone?

Can your tv except a pal progressive signal?. Thats what you usually see when it can't.

According to the TV manual 576p is specified as one of 3 modes it accepts.
