I have a tosh 340e and recently it has been suffering from occasional pixelation or blocking.Could this be the faulty discs or is it more likely to be the player.I know the drives on these machines are of poor quality but this has only started happening since i put the m/r remote hack in.It has only affected 2 discs so far.

Are you saying this problem only just started to affect these discs or are these new discs you didn't play before?

Could be just poor quality transfers with a low bit-rate.

I'd suggest trying the two discs on another player, if they work it then possibly a new player is in order. If you have a games console try the discs out on that.
