My DVD player in my hcpc is a NEC 2500A and I have tried playing this dvd (rented from Prime Time Video) with PowerDVD and Media Player Classic. I also have fddshow installed.

I have played other dvds (Pirates of the Caribbean and Underworld) but this one just isnt working!

When I put in, the computer begins to hang; if I manage to open PowerDVD it just refuses to play and powerDVD crashes. If I try using WMPC the it works for a bit (i.e the piracy warning) and then crashes/refuse to play further.

Why is this happening? Am I missing something?

Can you try the dvd in another drive and see if it works then?

It's probably not much help but I had lots of problems with the bundled PowerDVD v4 (with a DELL PC ) and the trial version of PowerDVD v5 ( which I downloaded ). Several discs ( e.g. Meet the Parents R1 ) would just lock up and some failed to play at all. Media Player Classic is probably using the PowerDVD codec to play the DVD so is still hitting the same problem. I switched to WinDVD and haven't found anything that it can't cope with, you can download a trial version to see if it works.

Apparently TheaterTek is also very good but you can't download a trial version to see whether that is really the case.

Cheers

Hmm. Well it just seems to be happening with this DVD. If the problem get serious I think I might consider getting theatertek...
