I have a Pioneer DV-717 (region 2 only) which has just started to play up, I also have an Aiwa DV-370 (multi-region via handset hack) which I just use for Region 1 & 3 discs. The Aiwa has £100 trade in value with Richer Sounds until May .

I'm thinking of either getting the Pioneer fixed (could be at least £60) and modified for Multi-region locally £40.

    Or

Trading in my Aiwa against a Pioneer DV565 (£189 from Richer Sounds).

Which is the best option? I use the Pioneer as a CD player and also wouldn't want to stick with just the Aiwa as a DVD/Cd Player as it just can replace the Pioneer for Sound & Picture quality.

Would repair be cost effective or would I be happy with DV565 picture?

The problem I had with this has disappeared, any ideas as to what might have caused it?
