I have a Pioneer xde plasma and a Panasonic s97 dvd player.

In some cases the picture on the dvd player are stunning but in darker scenes there is so much noise it becomes annoying and dont get me started on the macroblocing. I feel its the only part of my home cinema setup thats letting it down, should i fork out the extra and get the Denon DVD-3910-S or the Pioneer 868i or wait for HD DVD or Blue ray. thanks

    Hi steve0

I have a Pioneer 435FDE with the same DVD player as you and haven't noticed the problem you mention - I wonder if you have a fault somewhere?

It's worth checking before splashing out more cash.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

steve0 - sorry, I'm reading this whilst down south on business and not in a position to check the settings on my 435 and S97 - I'll try to do it for you at the weekend and let you know.

    Okay?

    Cheers,

    Martin.

    Power Control Save

    DVD Player:

steve0, if the abopve doesn't work for you, perhaps you should have a look at this thread about upgrading you firmware although I've never felt/seen a need to do so personally.

    Cheers,

    Martin.
