I am interested in upgrading my ageing Wharfedale 750 DVD player and would like recommendations regarding suitable players to use with my Loewe Articos TV.

It would seem logical to go with a component out player, but not sure if progressive is worth it.
Will I see a noticeable upgrade in picture quality?
If I go progressive what other kit will I need to buy?
What Scart Cable for component ?

Advice please

SCART does not carry component signals. Your display will have to accept a progressive scan signal, to take advantage of a dvd player offering it.

Loewe TV's are anomolie in that component input is via AV3 Scart. I think that QED AV29 is the cable to do this.

Whats the general opinion on the Pioneer 656A?

Any more responses?

can't seem to post links so here's a cut and paste from an earlier post from me

"watched some of AOTC on a pioneer 656 round Eric's yesterday on his new """"Lifestyle"""" set up in the living room and the picture quality was INCREDIBLE, I've also heard this player doing DVD-A and SACD and it sounds great too. I would buy one in a second if my 545 wasn't only six months old. My God that Gallo MPS-150 sub does AMAZING things with only a 10in driver!!! Roll on Christmas!"
