DVD Picture Problems

I am using the following kit for my Home Cinema setup

Sony DVP-NS300 DVD player
Schneider 21" TV
Vivanco Prowire Scart to Scart 3m
Argos Switchbox

I am experiencing picture flicker on background shots etc on some of my DVDs especially Black Hawk Down (The aerial shot of the airbase near the sart of the film)

I have tried routing the scart direct to my TV but it has no effect, also I tried this on my old ProLine DVD1000 with an Argos 3m Scart lead to a different tv (Sharp portable) and it also does this.

Can anyone suggest possible causes for this problem - I am thinking it might be dirty mains in my flat but I don't know if it is a ture phenomena.

OK, a few basics just to get everyone started.

Is the SCART on the TV RGB enabled? Are you using RGB out on the DVD player. Have you tried connecting your new DVD player to a different, RGB capable TV using both SCART cables (couldn't quite tell from your message).

By the way, I tried a scart switch from Argos a short while ago. Took it back because it was composite only (no RGB or S-video).

Try putting the TV on a untuned channel before playing a DVD.

I noticed that my TV flickers on some R1 DVD's. It is better on on R2.

The Scart on the Telly is RGB as the switchbox I use has an RGB on / off switch which basically shifts the image across when switched to on.

I have connected the DVD to a Sharp portable - same effect when using both cables.

Any more ideas ?
