Hi Again,

All you DVD fans might be interested in the following pieces of news:

Angel: Season 1 Boxed Set (R2) (£79-99) due out in early December, just in time for the Seasonal holiday celebrations. All 22 first-season episodes, in the same style as the UK “X-Files” DVD sets
The BBFC has not yet classified the Unrated Director’s Cut of “RoboCop” for UK DVD release, despite having classified various extras. However, it is highly unlikely that they will allow it through in the US version, and more than likely, it will be the same BBFC-approved edition, that we’ve all seen on UK TV many times over! Another notch on the pole, for Criterion and Region 1 DVD’s.
Futurama, another Matt Groening creation, will hopefully be getting an R2 release, very, very soon. The added bonus, is that the episodes will be seen in their full and uncensored glory, for the first time in the UK, including the infamous “Christmas 2000” episode, that was banned outright in the US!!!
R1 releases out soon, should include:
Back To The Future 1, 2 and 3

Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV Series – Season 1

Crocodile Dundee 1, 2, and 3 (CD In Los Angeles)

Fawlty Towers – all 12 episodes

The French Connection – Double Bill (2 films)

Legend (includes a DTS soundtrack, and both the US and European edits of the film)

The Lord Of The Rings (1978 animated edition)

Reservoir Dogs: 10th Anniversary Special Edition

Series 7 – The Contenders (Intriguing US docudrama about reality TV)

Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes

    Total Recall: Limited Tin Edition

    Bye for now....

Series 7 - The Contenders was excellent. I've had my preorder in for a while for a meagre $15 inc shipping. Bargain!

Alas, Artisan have pushed the Reservoir Dogs 10th Anniversary set back to 2002. Still, it'll be worth the wait. I'm still waiting for release dates for Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown SE's so I can finally dump my vhs tapes.

I agree about Robocop, not that the BBFC wouldn't pass it if submitted, they probably would, but more due to the fact that MGM wouldn't get the unrated version past the MPAA and so are just going for the R rated version (same as the UK version) in the states so it's highly unlikely we'll get anything different here.

Don't forget Ginger Snaps, Pooch. There's a Canadian SE with tons of extras coming later in the year so it'll be worth holding off buying either the domestic US release or the UK disc, or even the R4 one, as the Canadian SE disc will be the one to get. Ace film.

    Rambo,

Yeah, I forgot about "Ginger Snaps"! I had preview tickets to that, but couldn't go to the screening, as I had to work, so will wait and see what people say about the various editions, once they get released.

    Thanks for the reminder, though!
