So ok, i stopped smoking a week or so ago and irritable.....who me......Anyway i am really really fed up did i say really fed up with e.g. select language option and what do you know - English only
    (region 2 after all, dolt ! )
More to the point audio option........no audio option but a flippin' language option.....c'mon.......get real......5.1 or dts at least...
I for one will continue to import region 1 or other region DVD's untill we stop getting ripped off in this country.
Right then enough said off to my kip no more rants and don't let me catch you smoking or you will end up as daft as me.

The Father Ted box set menus are impossible. Truly the worst in the whole of Christendom.

Those annoying animated menus that take an age to settle really p**s me off!

I'd rather be instantly be presented with a static screen so I can get straight into the movie.

The ones I hate are when you can't tell which option is selected/highlighted until you press select and then you find that you have selected the wrong thing! (if that makes any sense!) :suicide:

Spider-Man is a bit like that you have to spot a little red dot about1/4000the the size of the screen, should be OK at the IMAX though.

Like the Indy boxset, I just can't see which is highlighted.
My gf has no problem with it so I guess the fact that i'm colour blind on reds has something to do with it :(

When I sit down to watch a film I haven't seen I don't want to know anything about it. On some DVDs before the menu comes up there are a whole load of scenes from the film, that really ***** me off!

My DVD-Rom recently died, so I've shifted back to a standalone DVD player. Man, I never realized how annoying it can be not to be able to jump past the opening animation/crapola right to the menu.

I was watching Simpsons Series 2 last night, and you have to watch that spinning head thing like 4 times before you get a menu. That's just stupid! Also, if you let the DVD run to the end of the last episode, this bloody copyright display comes up in like 50 languages and you have to eject the DVD or kill the power to jump out of it!

    Ok, I'm done ranting.

The way I see it, DVD menus are kinda like webpages. When they first took off years ago, they were flashy and just about impossible to navigate. (animated gifs anyone?) Now, the best pages are simple and informative. Let's hope DVD menus are heading in the same direction.

Mike have you looked at the "Infinifilm" extras on Thirteen Days and Final Destination 2. I think Infinifilm features are very good and if anyone could recommend other DVD's with this extra please let me know.

finding nemo menu - just cracks me up listening to ellen ramble on , wont' spoil it but well worth a listen.

I know copyright is important but bloody hell the lag time they leave those things up there, surely no one actually read it (ok so I'm going to get some sart alec saying they do every time) but a quicker lag would be nice. On video you could fast forward on dvd you're screwed ..oh oh and while I'm ranting trailors, isn't that the purpose of special features and not having them before the film.

Daredevil R2 hacks me off. At the beginning I get some bloke telling me to tell if I rented it and I can't fast forward past it.

Phoenix Nights and Bo Selecta crack me up......

But I must admit that if I stick a dvd in and ther is not some sort of animated menu with sub-menus to other menus...etc I feel a little cheated and think that the studio couldn't be bothered to make the effort....:(

But in reality most of the time all that doesn't enhance the movie, I would probably rather the space on the dvd be used to give the best possible picture and sound.

So maybe to offer the same movie as a 1 disc or 2 disc SE (X men 2)is the way to go ....stick all the fancy menus and extras on a second disc then we can decide from the off if we want to pay for it......:smashin:

Lol! I remember this one - someone else had a similar problem when they first bought Memento... :rotfl:

I think there's a thread somewhere on here with a link to a "map" of the extras disc!

Definitely one of the more (if not most!) confusing menu structures I've ever come across! :D (Don't have that problem anymore now though as I sold my copy... :()

It's very annoying that a lot of these DVDs set up the menus and extras as if they are some bloody game - it's a film for Gods sake just give them in a straightforward meun selection

That's the sole reason why I haven't picked up Memento on DVD yet... the interface.

The first time I play a DVD, I enjoy watching animated menus, but after that, I just want to see the movie. For the same reason, I'm rather crotchety over Easter Eggs. If I pay for a DVD, I don't want to have to trek through websites to find hidden features. I want everything on the disc listed in a nice vanilla text menu. :boring:
