Yes. All media should be backwards compatible.

You should check for a firmware upgrade as 4X media is different from 1-2X media :)

Can mess up your laser if you dont.

As I understood it there was/is no risk of damage to DVD+RW drives - only the DVD-RW drives from Pioneer/based on Pioneer technology. Namely:

    Pioneer DVR-7000 (Set-top)
    Pioneer PRV-9000 (Professional DVD recorder)
    Pioneer DVR-A03 PC drive
    Pioneer DVR-103 PC drive
    Pioneer DVR-A04 PC drive
    Pioneer DVR-104 PC drive
    And any OEM variants/rebadged variants

The only risk with + drives is that there will be wasted media in which case you can then update the firmware (which isn't really something you want to do frequently). Unless you have heard otherwise ted26?

Just in an update on this subject - I had a look on the Memorex Website and they had this article on the subject (DVD-R recording):
    http://www.memorexlive.com/data/4xdvdmedia_compatibility0003.pdf

Mentions the drives I stated above but doesn't say if Memorex units are affected  Not particularly useful! Anyway Shane I would take a look at there website although I can't see any mention of firmware updates for + drives (which I assume yours is):

Well it seems that the discs are ok and it was a bug in certain drives

I see no mention of your drive needing any such upgrade :)
