I rarely watch a pre-recorded DVD on my E30. In fact to date, I have only ever watched three in the twelve months I have owned it. Whilst the picture reproduction is always first rate, I have some reservations about sound levels. The DVD's are being played as I said earlier on my E30, and watched on a Panasonic widescreen 28" PL1 nicam set. I find I have to wack the volume up to around the threequarter mark to obtain normal sound levels. If I forget to reduce it again at the end of the film, then my ears get blasted as I return to t.v. broadcasts. Anyone shed any light on this puzzle.

Is there a dynamic range compression option in the audio setup?

MY E50 has one. This quietens the sound for night time use. Check that it is set to off.

Thanks for your response, yes it has, and yes it's set to off. I think I read somewhere that commercial DVD video audio levels can be low on this unit, but can't think where I read it.
