First post, so Hi to all

What I would like to know is, does anybody know of a DVD/HDD Recorder that comes with the HDMI connector?

I am looking to purchase an High Def LCD TV, for futureproofing, and am looking at the Toshiba 32WL48. To get the best out of the set I would like to connect it up to a decent signal and am interested in purchasing a recorder to this end.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The £1300 Pioneer 920 is the only - albeit excellent - option at present. Cheaper models - such as the Toshiba RDXS34 - should become available in a few months.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

The Tosh has only just been announced (at CES) and I was unable to determine if it came with HDMI, I knew about the Pioneer but £1300 is a lot of dosh!!

Has there been an indication of possible pricing for the Tosh?

My guess would be around £500 - but that's all it is (a guess!).

apologies to anyone if it seems like i'm hi-jacking this thread but does the new pioneer 920 have hdmi in as well as hdmi out socketry or is it just for output only. like the original poster in this thread i too will be wanting to buy a dvd recorder with a hdmi socket but what will happen when sky launches it's own hdtv service - don't pioneers plasma screens have just the one hdmi socket on their multimedia boxes?

No HDMI input - I doubt we see one of those for awhile!

With difficulty! Can't comment on the Sky thing yet as info is minimal - for all we know it may be a Sky+ type system that doesn't allow archiving off the HDD. So recording Sky HD is totally unknown at present.

I'm sure 2 into 1 HDMI options will become available nearer the time!

    You'd need something like this:
