This is the place for those discs with utterly abysmal picture or sound quality or those discs with glaring, unforgivable errors.

I'll start the ball rolling with WB's The Lost Boys, it's picture quality is probably worse than my VHS copy and it's one of those early Warner discs that doesn't even have it's own title screen - just a generic WB one.

So come on name 'em and shame 'em!

Watched The Day After last night.

very grainy, pro-logic sound - but for £4 what do you expect, but IMHO only worth £1.99

Region 3 The Others. Appauling artifacting throughout. Terrible, terrible picture. Not worth having even with the DTS soundtrack.

Silent Running gets my vote for the worst ever! 16:9 letterboxed onto 4:3!

I was so angry I wrote to the Studios and demanded an explanation. Needless to say I didn't get one!

Glengarry Glenross P&S only, I know - I should have looked

Highlander: The Immortal Edition.

THX Mastered and DTS 6.1 discrete - counted for nothing.
Grainy picture and dreadful sound, very disapointing.

Well I would like to include Casino. Terrible, terrible picture. Has to be worse than VHS.

Blade Runner R2 Director's cut #Brrrh# I still wake up soaked in sweat and god knows what else having had nightmares about this movies horrible, horrible PQ.

The original (isn't it still the only?) R2 release of Escape From New York - shocking image and sound quality

Yet from what I recall from the LD that was OK

The Royle Family - Series 1

Picture grain that is far worse that the broadcast version.

HI,

I want to nominate the entire series of DVD releases by VIPCO! One of the worst horror film companies to ever bother putting any movies onto DVD. To my eyes, it seems like their entire catalogue has been duplicated from pirated VHS tapes, rather than "Digitally Remastered" prints.

Life Of Brian (R2)

AWFUL PIC and in 4:3 and NO extras whatsoever!

Aliens (R1)

So blocky makes ITV Sport look good

Great Escape (orig R2)

Hi

StarTrek Inserection (sp?) (R2) half way through has got corruption. Disc is not damage physically and has been tried on 3 DVD players and my PC.

A good number of my early 1998/9 R1 discs are letterboxed in this way. It is only fairly recently that almost all releases have been treated to anamorphic widescreen presentation, though R2 has always been better at this due to the popularity of widescreen TV's.

The Running Man R2. Appalling. Non Anamorphic, low bitrate. Picture looks smeared and nasty. Crappy sound to boot.

Highlander R1 - worst pic and sound in my collection but does spot a THX logo (not that I bought it because of the logo bu tit shows that THX for DVDs doesn't guarantee anything).

The worst thing however is the fact that this is my favorite movie of all times ...

Queen Greatest Hits 1

For the sheer brainless decision to crop all the videos from 4:3 to 16:9

First R1 release of Silence of the Lambs.

Non-anamorphic video and dolby pro-logic sound. Wonderful extras - chapters and a menu.

R2 Dangerous Liasons - it may have been an early DVD release, but was unwatchable, as was Batman, and what the hell was that soft picture like on Gosford Park R2 - I know some of it was designed to be a 'look', but really poor all the same.

I just watched Batman R2 last night and bearing in mind that this film is from 1989 and that the DVD was a one of the early releases ('98) I think that is has excellent PQ and sound. Picture is a little soft and there are some minor compression artefacts which you will see if you look for them but otherwise it's excellent and it's anamorphic too. Bear in mind that I did watch this on my PS2 so I'm sure it could have looked a lot better if watched on a highend player.

R2 Version of The Coens 'Blood Simple' is easily the worst I have seen picture wise.It is so bad you would think it had almost been done deliberately.

I just finished watching another one of my R2 WB '98 releases and I must say that this one deserves to be seated in a corner of the cold and dark corridors of the “Hall of shame”.

I'm talking about "Interview with the vampire" an excellent picture with a terrible picture quality. It's a very soft and very bad transfer, much worse than Batman although Batman is 6 years older. I believe a new VHS copy coupled with a good VCR could produce a better picture than what just I saw. A shame really...

I hope that a much better version exist out there or will come to existence in the near future as I feel that this movie deserves better, much better.
