not sure whether this is the right place for this but here goes.

I have noticed when playing a number of DVDs on my Sony DVPNS305 there seems to be a pause for about a second normally midway through the film.

It always happens in the same place on each film.

Noticed it last night on Dogma. I seem to rember it also happened on Gladiator.

    Any ideas

    Thanks
    Ste

    thanks nathan

I suppose it would be too much to expect for the DVD makers to put the layer change at a scene change rather than in the middle of a good scene.

    or am just being picky

They do sometimes try to put at a scene change, but they more often that not,put it at a scene pause in the film, where there is no or little movement,so as you don't notice the layer change so much.

It is possible to have a seamless layer change, but this goes outside the DVD spec, apparently and could cause even more problems.
