dvd/divx players........

    Can dvd/divx players be updated/the firmware be updated(flashed) to accomodate new codecs when they are released?

    Well the Pioneer DV470/575 has already had a firmware update released online which adds subtitle support for Divx so I am sure when codecs are updated Pioneer will release a newer firmware to bring their players upto date, if they didnt they might have alot of people returning their players.

    They can but its more likely newer models will be released and you have to buy a new one. However Divx6 is a container, not a whole new codec and alot of current players support the features already.
