I have just enough room in my cabinet - but would have to sit
DVD ontop of the amp. Will this cause heat/interference?

I would have thought it better to have them the other way round. As to the height, does you manual give heights for air movement round the amp if not I would think at very least 1inch if it gets warm.

It may not cause interference, but it will in most cases cause a fair amount of heat, which will not do either unit an awful lot of good. Simply, I wouldn't recommend it (speaking from experience).

It is amazing how the installs shown in HCC always have all the gear crammed into cupboards. I wonder how long they manage to use if for before it all overheats and shuts down.

My gear is on very open racks with lots of breathing space for all of the components but I dont need the radiator on in my cinema room even during the winter due to the amount of heat given off.

Sometimes if the film finishes early enough I just have to end up watching two films as it is too cosy to leave.

If you have a light DVD player (Like the new Pioneers) it might help having the amp on top of the player as it would give it more rigidity.

Subject to adequate breathing space of course

These installs aren't designed to sound good but to appeal to "Footballers wives" where appearance is everything. The more appealing an install looks, the more likely the installer is to win an award then more footballers wives will use them and perpetuate the myth.

If the electronics burn out they will simply be replaced, as it saves dusting the units, but how can loudspeakers that are designed to give of their best with a metre of free space behind them, perform when stuck inside a box.

Had my DVD on top of the amp and the feet "burnt" itself into the top. Now that the amp is on top of the rack it looks not-so-nice.
Wouldn't recommend it due to the heat dispersion.

Not any more as I have the 646 now. I remember reading in one of the reviews that this particular model sounded better with a weight on top of it.
