I AM TRYING TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE PHILIPS DVDR880 & THE PANASONIC DMRE30EBS DVD RECORDERS. MY MAIN CONCERN IS OVER THE COMPATABILITY WITH 3RD PARTY PLAYERS ON THE DISCS PRODUCED, DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE DISCS PRODUCED BY EITHER OR BOTH OF THESE MACHINES CAN BE PLAYED ON A X-BOX?

    Hi Mate,
don't know about the x-box, but i know that my DMR-E30
recordings work on the PS2 at any bit rate ie 1 hr , 2hr, 4 hr, 6 hr modes or even with the flexible record mode set to record 2h 30m
    or even 5 hours...etc..

I have recently found out that on an old alba dvd player (2 y.o.) my mother had which initially would not play my recorded dvd-r's
that if I record in SP on the DMR-E30 (2hr Mode) it will play them
every time. The only problem bieng that some films are more than
2 Hours long. I will try again with a longer film but set it at constant and not variable bit rate and let you know the results.

    Regards
