DVD burning error

I have just tried to burn a TS file to a DVD using ImgBurn, but almost to the end of the burn process I got this error message (see attached screenshot):

I have used ImgBurn for the past couple of months now, bough some blank DVD-R discs a few months back and have been burning my converted home videos onto them, all without fail apart from one which ended up aborting mid way through, but this was due to the file being located on my external HDD which I accidentally moved causing the drive to disconnect from the laptop resulting in a partial burn. However, with this particular file I just copied the file over to a folder to my internal HD and then burned the disc, but at about 95% I got the error message and had to cancel and the last two remaining chapters hadn't been burned. No idea what could've caused this as I burned at 3x speed. Could've been a faulty disc or been scratched (can't see any scratches though). I suppose I could just try using a DVD RW disc and see if I still get the error.

That message is invariably due to a bad disc.

Oh right. The discs only came in a spinde pack of 10 Maxell brand not a pack of say 50 in a spindle. Never had any blank media DVD or CD-R disc do this before on any of the re-writers I've had, though years I did get the odd (rarely) coaster, but I don't think that's a coaster. And I always take good care of them not to damage them. Some of the files were burned but not the ones when he reached about 95%.

it is reporting an error in reading not writing, unless this is a verify process ?

EDIT : having another look it does say verifying so yes prob just a bad disc.
Try burning as just an image file and see if it throws an error then. If not just then burn the img file

Do you mean an image file just writing to the HDD?. I could always try a DVDRW disc to see if it does it on that, and if it does then I assume the disc can just be re-written again and the data wiped. As I've said I've never had a disc do this before, could be the DVD writer that's becoming faulty (laser worn). I don't do many burns on it, though lately I've been writing and burning DVDs with my encoded home videos on to back them up, but part from that I rarely use the writer.

Yes just writing it as an image file to the HDD. That way you know the fault lies in the disc or the drive and not some error in the actual data its trying to write.

You could try a RW to test if it is the drive. Back when I used to burn a lot my drives would last just about a year before I started having problems.
