For the last seven months i have been using DVD Box Office of Ontario Canada for the supply of region one DVDs.

I have spent around 800.00 pounds with them in this time and have been happy with their price, service and delivery times. Most discs have taken about seven days to arrive.

Recently a DVD failed to arrive so I waited the recommended eight weeks to notify them.

After three days I received an email saying they had been busy and could I remind them again in a weeks time! I did this and despite sending a "reminder" every day for the past week I have had no reply.

The DVD in question was less than 10.00 pounds and it is now ten weeks since it was posted to me.

I find it amazing that they can treat customers this way and still make a profit

No great surprise really. Do a search for past threads on DVDBoxOffice. I went off them for the same reasons.

However, I do still use them when they come up cheapest for a disc.

I'm now used to waiting for things from them.

Talking about waiting i sent my cam off under its warrenty back to dabs in the begining of April as it had a fault. The said £100 cam went missing, even though i'd notified them back in March before i returned the cam of my change of address, they still sent it to the wrong address and told me i had signed for it even stating my name was on the signature of Parcel Force's returns slip this was interesting as the time declared i would of been in the hairdressers. So contacted Parcel Force whom promptly told me the address the cam had been delivered to and the signature defiantly wasn't mine.

I'm glad i keep all correspondence. I know it's only a £100 web cam but it's starting to look like i will have to take dabs to the small claims court.

I am not sure that they do make a profit. I stopped using them when they filed for Chapter 11

Is that an accounting type thing Ian?
Should I cancel my remaining orders?

There's a dicussion about it in the forum. Do a search for chapter 11.
It's a bit like Bankrupcy but protection from such. The company continues but are not allowed credit.

It's the American equivalent of our Creditors Voluntary Arrangement where insolvent companies obtain a court order to stop creditors from issuing Winding Up petitions to allow them time to trade out of insolvency.

As to whether you should cancel your remaining orders, that is a commercial decision that you have to take but I stopped using them months ago as I don't wish to be an unsecured creditor if they do go into liquidation and I don't think that credit card companies include overseas transactions in their cover.

I know that Barclaycard do. At least for Internet purchases anyway - which is all I care about :D

    Not sure about the others.

I have decided to cancel my remaining orders with them.

I have also requested my credit card company dispute the payment they took for the disc that didnt arrive.

Its only a tenner but I gave them good business in the past 6 months so I expect better service

    Can I just say that I a disc from Play.com didn't arrive.

I have now emailed them 4 times, and they have never replied.

It was only a £10, so I just canceled it via my credit card.

Same thing happened with movietyme, but that was a Twin Peaks Boxset, only I emailed them 8 times.

All I can say, that DVD Box Office never failed to deliver, were always cheap (even their xbox games were not expensive and arrived very quicky - I just got morrowind:) and I love them to bits.

If they do go bankrupt they will be missed!

Sh..., placed an order with DVD Box Office two weeks back and was wondering why the disc hasn't arrived yet. Too late to cancel I guess since I received the order confirmation!?

So far as I can recall they filed for Chapter 11 over a year ago so this is nothing new.

    Hi,

If you have any problems with any company, sent them a email claiming if the fault is not fixed straight away, you will slate them off on the web/forums, and this may lead to them losing business.

See how quickly they then fix the problem. I done it a few times, and things get sorted. We the paying customers must not suffer, and use the most powerful means of communication at our fingertips - the internet.

DVD Box Office has not done itself any favours.

I also have used DVD boxoffiec and spent mega dosh with them over the past 2 yrs

I have never had any problems (touch wood) and on the whole the discs have arrived quickly at a vg price.

I recently had to return one of the re-animator millenium discs from the 2-disc set becuase it was scratched - between returning it and getting a replacement, took 10 days, with my credit acrd refunded the £1.40 (ish) it cost me to send it back.

Hells bells - I hope they don't go under - their service, as far as I'm conerned, puts the vast majority of UK suppliers customer service to shame
