DVD and blu ray player of the day for Sony A90j oled tv

I realise that the world has moved over to streaming, but my father has a good collection of dvds / blu rays a lot of which are not available online.

Do I stick with the Panasonic ex75 DVD player over hdmi or is there a more suitable replacement (I am not expecting leaps and bounds in terms of image quality, but would hope for as seamless as possible an experience — insert disc, push play and enjoy)?

I note that Panasonic / Sony don’t seem to be updating their ranges, so assume that physical disks are becoming a thing of the past.

If you don't need recording facilities and just want to play discs then the Panasonic DMP-BDT180EB or Sony BDPS 3700 will more than suffice, and provide better picture quality.
