    HI,
    I am thinking of buying a dvd recorder(for pc).Will this copy 5.1 dd so i can make back ups of my dvds?Would it depend on the recorder or the software if it is possible?

    It is possible on the PC, but I think the discussion of "backing up" DVD's in any depth here will be frowned upon by the forum moderators, because it is illegal. One of the problems you will encounter is that commercial DVD's are dual layer, whilst the majority of DVD recorders for the PC are single-layer, so you'll have trouble fitting the data onto the disk. Dual-layer recorders are now becoming available, but dual-layer recordable disks are in short supply.
