    Hi,
Has anyone out there done a back to back demo of DVD-A players playing DVD-A material?

    Regards

    Hi John,

Well I haven't for a long time. I can tell you that over analogue, the Denon 3800 wiped the floor with the Pioneer 757Ai in the DVD-Audio department but thats just one example under one configuration.

Probably the most important question is whether you will be using digital (Firewire/Denon Link) or analogue, as in the former case it is the amp's DACs that you will be using whereas in the latter, it is the player's. Big difference.

Also, as I mentioned in the DSD-Universal player thread, not all players have flexible (or any) bass management/speaker distance settings (for DVD-A and/or SACD). Quite apart from all the differences other bits in the player might make (DACs, op amps, power supply, etc.), this is an important feature.
