Real newbie question! I've just taken the plunge and gone for a DVD3800 setup, but haven't been able to get the DVD-A working through my Sony DB940 amp. I thought I'd just be able to hook it up through the 5.1 inputs, but it doesn't seem to work?!

Can you play DVD-A through this sort of set up? Or do I need to go for a 6.1 amp setup?

    Any help much apprieicated.

    Cheers

Sorry if this answers a question you didn't ask...
You can play DVD-A discs through your Sony by optical 5.1 or co-axial 5.1, you need to select Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1 or whatever on your disc menu.
Of course if you want to play hi-res audio from DVD-A, then you need to connect normal phono leads from the 3800 to 940, two for stereo or six for full multi-channel. Select multi-channel input on the Sony, select audio player mode in 3800 menu so the player will access hi-res disc layers, and select your choice from DVD-A disc menu.
I have a 3800, if you need any specific answers I'll do my best. :)

Many thanks! I'll give that a whirl and see how it goes.
