dv88plus upgrade

    could anyone tell me if it is worth me upgrading my 88plus to the DV88 Plus SiI504 PS, I currently feed it into a domino 20

    Yes, it is worth it, IMHO. I did it and am glad I did. Better detail, fast video is rendered better and with less artifacting, and the picture just seems more accurate and 3-dimensional. The SiI504 is considered one of the best deinterlacers in the business.

    hi there, I did it as well.

    you actually get the Sil503 board and not the Sil504 board.

    imho it is better on my Sim2 DMF - you get smoother and faster pans.

    I certainly didn't see less artifacting though - it seemed the same, along with the picture :)

    btw; a guy was selling an older DV27 on the forums for £450 not that long ago and I don't think it sold? That has the Sil503 already. I was tempted myself to sell my DV88+p and buy that :)

    I'm sure my upgrade has a SiI504. I saw the chip on the board. But I got mine recently, within the past 5 months or so. But it doesn't matter. The 503 and 504 are virtually identical.

    The performances of the SiI503 and 504 are virtually identical as Dean has stated. The 504 is made on a smaller geometry silicon process and consequently consumes less power.

    How do you know which Sil you have, I have a DV88 plus as well, only a couple of years old?
