Which of these players is better for PICTURE, and which one is better for SOUND?
What rating out of 10 would you give each player for picture quality and CD sound?

well, the arcam is twice the price of the sony. so the arcam would have to get 10 out of 10 (on a comparative scale of these 2 models only), leaving the sony at say 8 out of 10.
the dv88 is alleged to be as good a cd player as the arcam 7se (£350).
if u want a one-box solution (i.e. to use this as a cd player too) then the arcam would be the choice. (the sony does have sacd in its favour, but the limited sacd catalogue (currently) plus price of typically £25 for a sacd would have to be a limiting factor).
but you could buy the sony plus an arcam 7se for undoubtedly less than the dv88. like £400 + £300 vs £900 rrp on the arcam.

listen to a well run in ns900-cd mode with good anciliaries before parting with all that cash for the arcam I think youll be pleasantly surprised. imo the sony is a real quality bargain.
