It is only me, or do any of you 88+ owners notice the drive 'churping' twice during track changes in CD mode. If so, has anybody got a fix for it.
    I'm running xxx34 LT76

    Cheers

Yes I think I have that...I think its down to the drive rather than the software I am running 3.0*** on my dv88+.

It seems to physically move between tracks and so may be the reason the seamless tracks get a pause between them??

Have you spoken to Arcam support at all about it?

No.. I have to say I hardly notice it..(and I probably do not play enough CD's to pick up on any pausing). On dvd;s its always noisy when spinning through the menus.. but as soon as the film starts its all but silent.

    Cheers

    Simon,

All us 88+ owners share that problem im afraid.

Remembering the 88+ is primarily a DVD player, CD comes at the bottom of this list. In my opinion CD replay on the unit is better any other DVD player on the market right up to their own FMJ27.

When you insert a disc the machine goes through a process of "recognition", regognising the disc is a CD is the last thing the player does before displaying "Disc Error" - thats the reason why it takes an age to get going when you insert a CD.

As Matt has stated, the machine does have an incredibly noisy transport mechanism that indeed sounds as if its moving along with each track marker....Interesting point Matt makes though...what happens when you say play a 70 minute DJ mix album??.....are you saying if its a continious 70 min mix CD but has track marks for easy access to tracks deep within the mix then you are going to get a slight pause???

I am sure there have been other threads about the pause.. which one person noticed when they were playing like u suggested a long mix across tracks that normally would play like one long track!

What I find interesting though, is that I had an 88 (not the plus) on loan, for a time and that player didn't do it.

I might try and give Arcam support a call, I'm sure they'll say that they have never heard it.
I did a test this afternoon and it doesn't do it until you reach track four or five, and then on every track after that, i.e when the laser is further from the center.

I'm trying to find out whether there is a later drive software than the xxx34 and LT76. Here's hoping

    Cheers

There is a later software ver 3.00xxx is already out and I have installed it.. contact arcam for a upgrade disc.. LT76 is the latest as far as I know. I also agree I am sure my old DV88 had no issues with CD's

Same issue with Arcam FMJ DV27+

Does software version 3.00 fix this?

If not, what does this firmware update do for you?

Just upgraded to version 3.0.0 and the drive churping has vanished.

At long last I can listen to my CD's in peace.

    Cheers

Time for a call to friendly Arcam supports methinks, drive churping between CD tracks is annoying.

I just talked to arcam about the latest upate. Some of the new feautures seem pretty cool.

It now supports wma files and jpgs. It also can play an mp3 and a jpg associated with it at the same time which is pretty neat.
