DV79 into a scaler - advice please

I have just purchased an Optoma Themescene HD81 which has a separate scaler. I have an Arcam DV79 which I think/hope has the able to select video output. I understand that for the best results when using a scaler I should be setting the DV79 to output 576 interlaced via HDMI.

I have searched about online for a way to do this and still haven't found a solution. Could anyone on the forums shed some light? Suggestions on how o get the best out of the DV79, and the scaler, would be amazing!

Thanks

Sounds like your doing the right thing. Output from your DV79 should be 576i into your scaler. Are you having a problem with finding the output options in the DV79 set up menu?

I found an Arcam DV79 spec sheet listing:

HDMI* video, supporting the following formats: 720 (1440) x 480i, 720 x 480p, 720 (1440) x 576i and 720 x 576p.

In the players video setup menu set the "Progressive" setting to "off". This should enable interlaced output via HDMI.

Hi Fuzzy, Avi,

Yep I've seen the same spec sheets, but through HDMI have not managed to work out how it's done. When connecting using HDMI it seems that the only option you have regarding progressive is On.

Is there a hidden menu somewhere I wonder?

Cheers

Does changing the "output priority" setting provide additional "progressive" setting options ?

Maybe worth a try even if it's counter intuitive to select analogue when using HDMI.
