DV79 frozen menu 3/8

    Hello everybody,

    I used to be a happy DV79 owner but since 2 months I'm a little frustrated.
    Normally I bring my old Panasonic DVD-player to our regular home cinema evening to friends together with the panasonic PT AE300 beamer, but this time I wanted to present an extra good picture and took the DV79.

    They don't have any AV-receiver so to be on the safe side I configured everything to PCM downmix and set the speakers to no center/ rear boxes.

    Back home I noticed that the menu freezes at menu "Audio 3/8" and I have to switch the unit off completely.
    So since that time I am restricted to stereo enocoding but I loved the prologicII encoding of the DV79 and really miss it.

    Do you have an idea what to do except sending the unit in ?
    Is there a setting to restore the factory settings so maybe that coud help ?

    Any help appreciated

    Try holding the stop button down for 4 or 5 secs?
    Designed to get you out of trouble for setting a non compatible progressive signal maybe it'll have the same affect for audio menu.

    Thanks per-Sony-fixed but that I have tried already with no effect.
    That was also the proposal from my dealer.

    Please contact Arcam customer support. Tell them Pete sent you.
    The freezing on page 3 of the setup menu is a known software issue that occasionally happens. Fixing it is straightforward, sorry I can't divulge the information on here.

    Hello Engineer,

    I got a quick response from your colleague from Arcam support and instructions how to reset the player.
    Now everything is fine again and I really enjoy the PLII sound again.
