What kind of upgrade are you looking for? Software, hardware or otherwise?

    :lease:

If anyone from Arcam reads this, the only software enhancement/fixes I'd really like to see are:

    a) the ability to move CD up the disc recognition order. The player can hang a little. While I know the DV78 is primarily a DVD unit, it is a single box solution - so I use it for CDs and DVDs.

    b) Ability to fast forward/reverse through MP3 data files on CD/MP3 discs.

    c) Eliminate the short delay at the start of MP3 files when playing or forwarding; this is a machine/software fault, not a CD/MP3 fault - I work my MP3 files in Cool Edit/Adobe Audition before burning.

    d) Gapless MP3 playback - for live albums this is partcularly annoying.

I bought an Arcam in the tradition of good hi-fi (I run Alpha amps in the studio and at home), I figured this machine would do the above out of the box...my old Pioneer did it and I figured I was upgrading at £750.00!!

The software upgrades are only accessible on the Arcam site to dealers like myself. The reason for this is that they are meant to be applied by the dealer. They are quite simple to install but if you do it yourself and you do screw it up your dealer and or Arcam will charge you to remedy it. If you feel confident in applying the update youself I can arrange to e-mail you the files to be burnt to disc although this is done entirely at your own risk. Alternatively give your dealer a phone and book a time when you can bring the machine to him to have it done, it would only take about 10 minutes.
