Winner of best DVD player in the £500-£1000 category I believe, not bad considering the level of competition in that sector :).

Refreshing change from one or two magazines love of everything Denon and Yamaha :) Both companies have awesome players, but it is nice to see something else win for a change :)

Even happier that I've bought one now :D

    Hi,

Is the Marantz multiregion / Region Free :lease:

Just mulling over player options as my Sony DVPS735 is starting to look a little long in the tooth.

Did you compare the 7600 against any other players ? any comments on the differences between?

    Cheers

    Damo

It is remote hackable to be multi region, but places like www.avland.co.uk and the other forum sponsers may very well send it multi region already :).

I had a Pioneer DV668 before, and it is way ahead of that in terms of image quality, there is virtually zero noise on the Marantz, and in 720p mode, it is amazing!!

Home Cinema Choice rated it almost as good as the Denon 3910, which is a class level higher than the DV7600. At that price level though, the differences are rather slight. Alternatives would be the Denon 2910 and the new £700 Yamaha (which incidentally won the best DVD player award in What Hi-Fi this month for under £700).

Another option could be the Pioneer 989.

Top class :) Very impressed :D

Cheers Kazman, I'll have to get a demo of the 7600 I think

Just noticed that you have a BK XLS2000 listed in your signature. Sorry to divert the subject of the link, but wondered impressed you are with it - looking at it myself as i think her indoors will choke if i bring the monolith home ! :D

It is not that much of a change because Marantz and Denon have the same masters and there is some evidence of product convergence, especially at the R&D stage. I hope they do maintain their individuality though because competition benefits the customers most. :)

The ickle BK is good, but it might be a little outclassed in comparison to your other speakers.

It's very WAF though, and is certainly one of the best for its size and price, if not THE best.

There have been quite a few reviews in the sub forum, so might be worth checking it out there :)

Another vote for the XLS200 - got mine 6 weeks back and when my mother came round she couldnt believe it was a subwoofer - she thought it was a little table :rotfl:

......switching it on changed her mind :D

The finish on the Monolith is superb, the quality of the grain is fantastic!! :)

But it is big, the XLS200 DF is a much looking unit as the cone is not visible, but the Monolith also looks very nice for such a big sub. :)

She might like the big boy :) you never know :D

    Hmm I'm guessing not....

    Picture the scene

Minimalist utopian lounge where sound appears as if by magic from unseen sources. Where the only thing on display is the plasma panel, and all cables are banished from view!

Now if i can just get BK to redesign the sub to look like a minimalist fireplace surround ........... :D

perhaps 2 xl's strategically hidden is my best bet - honest darling we've had them for years....

They do look like furniture though :)

Two monoliths at each side of a Sofa would just look like two side tables ;) :)

Your house guests will be thankful :) something to rest their coffee on :) erm, just remember to tell them to take their glasses off the subs when you turn them on :D
