From memory I think that setting only tells the machine what to look for first on the discs you put in. If you mainly watch DVD films choose video or if you mainly listen to music choose audio 'cos it'll be a bit faster to fire 'em up. It certainly won't stop you playing whatever you don't choose! Mine's video since I don't own any DVD-As.

This setting only affects playback of DVD-Audio discs. Such discs are nearly always authoured as 2 discs in one; one for DVD-Video capable machines, one for DVD-Audio capable machines. That way, they play on all DVD players. The DVD-Video part usually has Dolby Digital audio in place of MLP.
If you set 'priority' to 'DVD-Video', then the player will pretend to be a DVD-Video only player, and play the DVD-Video part of DVD-Audio discs.
It won't affect loading time, best to leave it on 'DVD-Audio'.

According to the manual it does :)

Saying that CD's take the longest to be loaded, as CD's are the last disc format that the player checks for.
