Will the dustmen take a double duvet that I've thrown into the black bin? I know they can be picky with things.

Best to put it in our neighbours bin, so it doesn't matter :rotfl:

I think every council is likely to be different and even down to the actual person at the time.

Stick it in and see if they take it - worse case you have to take it to the local recycling place. Or find a homeless person to give it to!

I don't think that dan be answered because

1 Every district has different policies
2 some bin men are more attentive than others which would dictate whether they spot it or not
3 some binmen are more laid back, some are little hitlers - depends on which one picks up your bin

Try it and see - they will either take it or leave you a note.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Our bin men couldn't give a toss what's in our bin. It could have a dead body in it and they would still take it away.

Around here (Lincolnshire) leave anything like clothing in a bag next to the bin and the "charity bag" collectors will take it. They come around on bin day, just before the lorry and take any textiles, clothes, fabric, metal... Yes, we know they shouldn't, but it does us all a favour :)

Put plenty of duvets in our bin over the years, just put it at the bottom with general rubbish on top. Worse case just take it to the tip.

You put asbestos in the black bin, too lazy to take it to the local dump and put inside the dedicated asbestos skips?

Why it was double bagged and removed by a qualified indivdual? You can dispose of asbestos at landfill.

There are some very strict rules regarding the disposal of asbestos. Double bagging it and sticking it in the bin isn't the work of a qualified individual.

From what I have read, it needs to be clearly marked with warning labels attached. If this wasn't, they are not qualified or competent to remove asbestos. Plus they would have removed it themselves and not left it with you.

There's no chance the bin truck will rip the bag with the hydraulic crusher or break the asbestos sheeting causing it to spread asbestos particles everywhere.
