Best gaming system there ever was (closely followed by Dreamcast)

agreed.. possibly on both points. The dreamcast was criminally under valued.

Virtua tennis and crazy taxi were miles ahead of anything on ps2 at the time, the memory card with screen on it was novel, oh and resident evil code veronica was born on the DC, not to mention shemue...... and MSR.................... and so many fab arcade conversions, sega rally daytona........ and hyrothunder

infact there are a whole bunch of games on the DC which were proper cutting edge back in the day. it helped having the at the time king of arcades pushing it!.

There were some great games for the Dreamcast.. at the time it was the best place to play fighting games (Powerstone, Soul Calibur, Fighting Vipers and Street Fighter to name a few) Also one of the early consoles for online gaming!

Still got mine somewhere, might have to be dusted off.

I sometimes regret having sold my amiga when I did but then I realise it would be so much hassle to set it up for a game of anything. Don't have an option to leave anything set up all the time that a lot of the older machines really need.

I still have mine boxed up under my bed. I keep toying with the idea of buying a small CRT TV and setting it up in the corner of my study. You can get a board that plugs into the hard drive port and runs software off a flash card, so no having to swap fragile floppy disks around either.

My mate does that with his ST. The entire library on a memory card.

I loved my amiga. Sensible soccer was the first time a game had me wanting to stay inside rather than go out and kick a real ball. parallax scrolling on shadow of the beast was mind blowing, I remember saying to my dad "look at this, it moves like real life!".
My dad eventually started playing games and has never looked back. I laugh when I go to visit and he is in his computer room blasting away on doom or something. He is 68 now and I still can't stop myself laughing, he looks like Jack or Victor from still game all hunched over his keyboard face about an inch from the screen. The frightening thing is I see myself getting more and more like him.:D

Back when I had my speccy at about 10 years old my dad asked me when I would grow out of videogames. I said about the same age as when he grows out of killing pheasants with a shotgun. 32 years later I am still gaming (and he is still shooting)
That said (and it took some time) after racing in my racing set up and trying my vr hmd he finally admits he "gets" why I like it now (far better than barmy burgers , Horace goes skiing and chequered flag on the speccy)

I still play on a few Amiga and DC games via emulation. I never tire of swos, kick off 2 and cannon fodder. Virtua Tennis on dc is super :)

Not in my experience :) My Amiga (or should I say "my brother's") was faulty with dodgy memory and was crashing all the time

    Time to get nostalgic?

In the early '90s it was the Amiga 600 with 1 megabyte of upgraded memory. Now that was when games were fun and well done.

    Leisure suit larry
    Sensible Soccer
    Cannon fodder

Al we need is to get the sensible software team back on the games development but that will need founding but it can be done.

My Frankenstein of a PowerPC A1200 has been gathering dust for a while now, but I really need to get it back working again, if I can find the time.

Recently I've been using AmiKit X with Flowerpot for OS4.x emulation.
