    Hi All

This is all still a bit new to me (the HTPC stuff) so I've just a couple of newbie questions.

I've recently bought a Pioneer 434HDE and I'm looking to build a small HTPC to watch DVD's and DivX files. I'm a bit confused as to what would be the best video input type to use - I understand that DVI and HDMI are pretty much the same thing (except that HDMI carries sound too ?) - so how does that compare to a direct VGA connection from an HTPC ?

Ideally I'd like to just setup the htpc to the default resolution of the screen (1024 * 768 * 75hz) and not have to worry about powerstrip etc - unless someone can enlighten me further ?

Also, I presume that with the DVI / HDMI connection there's no need to worry about progressive scan (480/720 etc) ?

Told you I was a newbie... and suggestions / tips most welcome !
