    Hi all.

Sorry if this is really trivial, but ...

Eyeballing the PDF of the AVR300 user manual I noticed that it mentions connecting speaker wires with bare wires, or spades. No mention of 4mm bananas.

Now I know that there is some EU rule to prevent me from taking my life in my hands with something as dangerous as banana plugs, but do the connectors on the back of the AVR300 at least have something I can pop off to allow the ingress of said lethal weapons? :) Or is one stuck with bare wires and spades?

    Thanks in advance.

My AVR300 (in the USA) accepts bananas.

All current Arcam amplifiers will accept standard 4mm banana plugs, you just need to pop off the little blue plastic covers on the end of each socket.

Brilliant - ta. That was the answer I was looking for. My ancient NAD amp has a similar approach, and it suddenly occurred to me that should (when) I invest in a 300, I could get home and find all my speaker cables suddenly useless.

    Cheers.

p.s. let's not talk about the 3mm bananas on a Cyrus amp I had once
