The artwork need to be stored in each albums folder and each artwork file needs to be called "folder.jpg" or "cover.jpg"

One of the best places to get the art work is Amazon, but this can be time consuming so take a look at these apps which help do it for you...

http://team.thenexusnet.com/nexus/AAA/
http://www.unrealvoodoo.org/hiteck/projects/albumart/

You can set them to automatically create a "folder.jpg" in each albums folder.

If you want to get even more advanced, use http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ to actually 'embed' the artwork into the files. I recommend you do, but a folder .jpg will do for now.

Don't forget to tell Squeeze Center to "look for new and changed music".

If you have any obscure album and cant find the artwork on Amazon, let me know as i have a few good sites bookmarked.

I do have a number of CD's where obtaining the album art has proved very difficult, and also an ever increasing number of vinyl rips.
Could you either post links to these sites, or pm if you'd prefer.

http://www.slothradio.com/covers/ is good, as mentioned above.

Also worth a check are;

http://rateyourmusic.com/
http://www.discogs.com/
http://www.allmusic.com/
http://www.albumart.org/

A simple Google image search can sometimes come up with the goods too :)

The two applications that Autopilot mentions above to find and add artwork are both PC only. Does anyone know of a Mac equivalent?

My iTunes actually has most of the coverart, but Squeezecentre using Duet doesn't display most of them, some do get through ok, but majority don't, any ideas?

I'll reply to my own question(!) to help out any other Mac users looking for a simple album art solution for SBduet... app called COVER SCOUT, cost £16 and does all the hard work for you, converting existing iTunes art into the ID3 tags so SB can read them, and own inbuilt search engines for art that iTunes didn't find for you.

I've got myself in a bit of a pickle with my artwork and I'm hoping one of you guys might've found an answer. ;)

I've just batch converted my WMA library to FLAC ahead of my Duet arriving tomorrow (as till now, FLAC has been of no use to me).

DBA Batch converter has done an ok job of the conversion and has pulled across the tag artwork from the WMAs and popped them into the FLACs but it's not copied across the folder.jpgs themselves and put them in the appropriate folders in my new FLAC library directory structure.

I'm thinking I probably ought to do this for completeness, but how? Should I just use one of the programs like Autopilot mentioned above or will that just confuse the issue (due to there being a lot of tag artwork in the files already)?

Any thoughts?

Sound like you have already confused yourself! It does indeed sound like a pickle - what exactly are you trying to achieve here? What is all the artwork you are embedding? Surely you only need one piece of artwork (the album front cover). All you need is a single image embeded into each track OR a folder/cover.jpg in the folder. Having both probably wont confuse things, you just dont need both. Thats it, simple :)

Anyway, thje apps i mentioned above probably cant copy .jpg's to matching folders (although it might be possible with an advanced MP3tag action).

Thanks for that, when I ripped with DBA it gave me a folder.jpg for each album and added the artwork inside each track as well. I assumed this was standard practice and that I ought to get my folder.jpgs back in the album folders.

It sounds like I don't need to bother? Are there advantages to doing it within the tag only and not bothering with the folder.jpg? Or any disadvantages to doing it both ways? Like any bits of software that only look at one for example?

Thinking about it a bit... if I were to delete *.wma from my original library structure it would just leave me with the folder.jpgs in the album folders and I could (assuming the directory structure is identical - which it should be cos I gave it the same naming convention) copy the folder.jpgs into the right directory structure.

The above assumes that I need to get the folder.jpgs back which perhaps I don't?

Yep, why did you batch convert your WMA? The Duet player can decode this format and/or the Squeezecentre will transcode on the fly (unless the WMA has Microsoft's DRM applied of course).

Well I did it to remove the transcoding step.

I figured why give my PC something to do when I can supposedly seamlessly step to another lossless format that gets around this as the FLACs can be played by my SBR natively?
