    HI
Is there a lnb that will output both horizontal & vertical polarities at the same time
i have just got a sat receiver with a hard drive  what i would like to do is just change my existing lnb to a duel output one to save having to run extra cables :smashin: as i have four dishes  i would then be able to watch one prog & record another :D

Yes there are actually 2 types of LNB that have 2 (F connector) outputs.

They are called "dual" and "twin" LNBs. One has 2 totally independent outputs simultaneously.
The other outputs V from one port and H from the other.
Unfortunately sales sources can't seem to agree on which name applies to which - so check you have the right type before you buy.

For 4-output types the names are "Quad LNB" (4 independent simultaneous outputs) and "Quattro LNB" - 4 outputs as follows :
    a) Lowband V
    b) Lowband H
    c) Hiband V
    d) Hiband H

    thanks Chris

the lnb's you mention have two f connectors needing two cables
what i am after is a lnb with only one f connector output that will carry both polarities down one cable & letting me use both vertical & horizontal polarities at the same time if that makes sense

    That has to be impossible.

V & H require different DC voltages to be sent down the coaxial cable.
You cannot have 14 V and 18 volts at the same time !
A "DC diplexer" is physcially impossible ; it would be classified in the same bracket as a DC-transformer or an AC battery :)

You can perhaps install a tone controlled or DiSeQc switch to switch a single cable between the 2 outputs of a dual LNB - but you can't receive both simultaneously.
The Satcure website has good info on all these sorts of basic questions.

    thanks again Chris

looks like i will have to get 4 twin lnb's & loads of new cable

i use a 4 to 1 DiSeQc switch at present but this only gives one polarity at a time
