New Subs landed today and this was my kitchen this morning
Just hate you.......
And now in situ.
Pretty ugly beasts aren't they?
Totally. I hate them
Its like looking at subwoofer p**n
congratulation's I'm really contemplating getting dual PB 16 Ultra's over the space of a year to spread the cost, looking forward to your opinions on sound quality etc.
Do you have a particularly large room ?
I couldn't imagine needing more in ~40 m2 (half-open on two sides).
After getting them into position this afternoon, I had a raw listen to them for about an hour or so. No EQ or any other adjustments, just factory defaults and a very moderate volume from what I’ve read and understood. The listening tests so far with movies only, are very, very good.
I’m hoping to get them properly set up tomorrow.
They look awsome Kev, two of them in your rooom must be bloody nuts! They'll be ruffling your hair for sure!
Is there a difference to PSA 1510?
I’ve only got an initial impression at the moment until later today when I’ll have them set up.
But with that initial impression, yes there is a difference.
But is it worth twice the price?
One of my main two rooms is small while the other is a bit larger, given the dimensions i could fit one in the smaller room however i could fit two in the bigger room.
I agree with some of the comments its going to be nuts for you having dual flagship subs from SVS in your room, eagerly awaiting your feedback on them
Thats a matter of personal opinion. What might be worth it to one person may not be worth it to another. So whilst I could give my opinion, I don't think it really matters.
Very interested to hear your review on these. I was thinking about moving away from SVS for psa but we will see.
Most av feedback is subjective and whilst we may expect a certain proportion to be "purchaser biased" it doesn't necessarily negate the value or our level of interest.....
Not really a fair comparison though is it?
I realise and appreciate that and I wasn't dismissing the query at all. It's just that we're talking about a lot of money here. It's not like comparing one thing for £50 and another for £100. One is twice the price but the cost difference is more palatable. This is comparing £1250 against £2500. Still twice the price but it's a whole different ball game and I don't want to be the one that says 'yes, its worth it'
No, it isn't. And I won't be offering one.
Youthman ( I think his name is) compared the SVS against the PSA 3601 in his room. I think the outcome was the PSA was better in the lower end and SVS in the upper bass.
I think Kev's room is a similar size to mine and one 3600 is crazy in my room. I hope Kev doesn't have any neighbours too close.
I love that guy
I don't have to worry about neighbours thankfully.
With the exception of the price, I'd have thought they'd be perfectly comparable?
Subs look really nice I think I prefer the matt finish over the gloss. Sure is nice to have a digital gain display isn't it? (the one thing I really miss). So you not doing a comparison at all? You seemed up for it last week..
....sounds like you're afraid the other half might see it if it's a "not really"......
You can think of it any way you like
Indeed I can....
I mean by flagship SVS v mid range PSA.
I'm attempting to smooth out the little bowl
Is that just using the SVS built in EQ?
Cross over at 60 and there's no need to smooth anything
