Dual Recording on Sky Plus

For those of you who dont know - here is how to get dual recording working on all sky + boxes.

Put the box in standby

Unplug the box form the wall power socket

Leave unplugged for 1 min

Hold BackUp and whilst holding plug the sky+ back in

Keep holding the BackUp button for another 10 seconds or so (all 4 lights on the box should turn on)

Wait 5mins or however long it says.

When its finished, wait 10seconds and turn the box back on.

You will now have new firmware and a sky+ box that can dual record

Nobody asked I had just seen somebody ask why it wasnt working. Most Sky + boxes should do dual recording atm (record 2 channels at once) but some old ones wont and you need to upgrade the firmware for this to happen.

And a box with much worse software than before you followed these instructions!
Be prepared for missed recordings, dropped series links, failed recordings, incorrect recordings, system crashes and a whole host of other joyous failures!

Oh, lol ive never had any problems with it at all - it just seems to make the box run faster - but watch out for that then :p

I upgraded my software the day it was delivered ( mid January ).

I was apprehensive after reading all the posts on crashing and missed recordings with the updated software - but.....

In 4 months I have had no failed recordings, no broken series links and no problems.

I record about 10 hours a week and a surprising amount are dual recordings.

I'm intrigued by this! Do you only WATCH 10 hours a week or do you actually watch "live" television?

I tend to record everything I watch!

Doh!!!

I watch it after or during the recording.

No Red Dots and FF through the adverts!
