I have just brought a Panasonic DMRES20D which I am very happy with, but understand that it will not be compatible with dual layer disks are these the same as double sided? Sorry to sound so stupid. If so I will put off my order for a pack of DVD-RAM 9.4gb double sided and just stick with the 4.7gb ones.

    Thanks in advance. Cath

The Panny ES20D will accept the double sided disks , meaning you have to turn the disk over manually to utalise the 9.4GB.
The dual layer disks are the newest disk type that allow for greater recording capacity without turning the disk over manually. You are correct that the ES20D will not handle this type.
