Looks like another one of those famous 1280x720 26" budget clones!!!!

Spotted these in the foyer today (I work for ASDA) and have "borrowed" one for a presentation at the instore Opticians where I work.

Already opened the box; entire manual is in German, unit is "branded" as a DUAL (ASDA's brand), but the company name all over the manual is "Quelle"

    http://www.quelle.com

Will be playing MPEGs and DVDs from an Apple PowerBook G4 via DVI.

Will post thoughts & pics if anyone interested (digital camera will be on hand)

If it's any good, I'll snap one up for sure (staff discount 10%!)

If it's complete guff, you'll hear about it. ;)

Hi, Is the resolution 1280 x 720 or 768 What is the remote like. Would like to see a picture if possible. What warranty on this and what is ASDA's policy on returns if not happy with the item. I wonder if my nearest ASDA at Linwood have any ?

    Hi DD,

Aye, it's 1280x768 I'm afraid.... got that one wrong.

Was running DVI through it today though, absolutely stunning, even though it's just a 15:9.

The unit also didn't have a single dead pixel, which I almost couldn't believe!!

Remote is grand; quite slim, everything you'd want on it.

A nice touch is all the on-screen menus, which really do look very "classy".... I know it's only a detail, but really nice fonts & colours..... not bright, vivid blocky graphics!!

As of tonight, we had about a dozen in Aberdeen (Bridge of Dee).

If they don't have any in Linwood just now (you'd need to check in store.... beggar all point in phoning!!), pop in, grab someone in a blue polo shirt (not green), and if they can't find out when they are getting them, tell them you want a branch transfer from Bridge of Dee!! (an "MTR" as it's called)

It's a great unit for the price. And I really do believe 90% of ASDA's electrical goods are complete toilet, so that's a BIG complement.

    eM.

Oh..... Sorry, no idea on returns policy.

On holiday now for 10 days, but if I can find out anything concrete, I'll post again. After all, I'll be buying one myself once I get my new house sorted in a few weeks time.

ASDA's return policy is, if it develops a fault within 12 months you get your full money back. They dont even check the fault.

I would check the 28 days as not long ago it was 100 days.

28 Day Guarantee If you are not happy with your purchase simply return it in its original condition, with proof of purchase, within 28 days of purchase and we'll give you a full refund or replacement* To qualify for an exchange or refund, products returned need to be complete with all components and original packaging. *Excludes Entertainment products

Electrical warranty We want you to be delighted with the electrical products you buy from ASDA. Therefore, in addition to our 28 Day guarantee, we guarantee all electrical products* for a year from the date of purchase. Simply return any faulty product with proof of purchase for a repair/exchange or refund. *Electrical items are defined as mains operated 220/240 volts. (N.B. this does not include mains charged products.) The ASDA Guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.

The ACER 2671 I had for a while was also a 15:9 screen, However instead of a black bar at the top and bottom it stretched the image to the top. This made everyone look think, no other choice. Does this set do this as well or does it always make people/objects the correct shape. Were you running a P through it via DVi ?

Maybe but my Mrs is going training tomorrow on what to do with returned electrical goods at Asda, I believe she will have the option to knock down the price of returned goods. I smell a bargain

I notice that the box and parts of the manual state that its 1280*768 but also states in the manual that it displays 16:9.......... weird......

Having said that, am impressed so far, aint got RF or a STB plugged into it yet, only played a DVD on it via my laptop (not DVI)

Now then people im new around here but yesterday i bought the dual 26" lcd from asda and was really impressed considering the price of the unit.
Having never heard of dual i set out to do some research and found that the unit is actually a rebadged hitachi

    this one to be exact

I compared the specs and the match exactly also the casing is very similar the only differences being the base and the remote sensor.
I have also looked at the instruction manual for the hitachi from the hitachi site and it is the same as the on for the dual and this is enough to convince me.

the hitachi is selling for about £550 at richer sounds and apparently rrp is just under £800. So it is quite a bargain.

Its wall mount fixings are 340mm X 200mm
All the barackets ive looked at so far use standard VESA fiixings.
