    Hi

I have recently bought a Yamaha HTR5630RDS and I am having trouble getting sound from DTS. I have tried connecting My dvd player with a Toslink and coaxial cable but it does not seem to make any difference when it is set to digital mode all i get is silence. I can play dolby digital fine through the reciever can anyone offer a newbie any advice on what he's doing wrong?
    thanks in advance
    Scott

It might help if you tell us the make of DVD player...9 times out of 10, this problem is solved because the DVD player has a menu in the audio set up that allows dts on or off...try that.
If it isn't that, it's probably because your receiver agrees with me that dts is no better than Dolby Digital anyway... ;) :D

The player is a Yamada dvx 6600 and I cant see a DTS on or off setting in the menu. My dvd player could well be of the same opinion as yourself

are you sure the dvd has a dts soundtrack?
check the back of the box to see whether it mentions it.
most dvds don't have dts soundtracks
