In the UK we have Se7en and Close Encouters.

There are more DTS titles obviously available on R1.

Unique to EZDVD in Australia (R4), Hanibal in DTS.

    Anyone know different?

...well... yes... there's the French two-disc Collector's Edition of Hannibal, which has French and English DD 5.1 soundtracks as well as a French dts soundtrack...

    http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/fiche.php3?id=3750

...and there will be the German DVD that will have both German and English dts soundtracks...

    http://discshop.com/dvdstation/product_body.asp?pf%5Fid=500629

...not forgetting the French, who - like the Germans - have a number of dts-equipped DVDs of French and American movies, including a DVD of the British(!) Billy Elliot, which will have both French and English dts soundtracks...

    http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/fiche.php3?id=3907

...and the Belgians have (cropped-from-2.35:1-to-1.77:1!) DVDs of U-571 and Memento, both with dts soundtracks...

    ...and the Italians have...

...oh! I'm sorry Glen! I didn't mean to make you weep...

...well... there most assuredly aren't 'many' more dts films in other 'regions' - certainly not in R3 (Hong Kong) or r4 (Australia)...

...now, the other R2 - Japan - which is NTSC by the way, and not PAL - has a number of dts films that are not available even in R1 (USA/Canada)... but... however... and yet... Japanese DVDs are *v*e*r*y* expensive compared to R1 discs, plus there is the shipping costs, and the VAT business, and the whole matter of ordering from a Japanese site...

...the largest number of dts dvds, then, are still to be found in the good ol' USA - although, in truth, there really aren't all that many, considering that the number of titles that has been released in R1 since DVD's beginning some 4 years ago has reached 10'000+...

...as for 'hacking' your Yamaha player... I don't know... somebody knowledgeable in this field is sure to turn up in this thread, sooner or later...

    ...huh?...

    ...which "R1 DTS FILMS" ?

The titles quoted above are all Region 2 DVDs! So, if you're in the UK, and you have a R2-only player, you can play any of those discs.

The real question is: does your Yamaha player allow you to play dts soundtracks? Not all players do. Check the Owners Manual that came with the player.

The second real question is: does your amp work with dts sound? Not all amps do. Check the Owners Manual that came with the amp.

    ...and so it goes...

glen61, your player cannot be hacked, it has to undergo a hardware surgery.
I think we addressed this already in another thread, didn't we? (My apologizes if it wasn't you, can't recall ...)

Check with www.techtronics.com and the like, even for GBP50-70 it's IMHO well worth it.
