I have several music DVD with DTS music tracks that are only encoded in 5 channels i.e. they do not contain a discrete subwoofer track. On these discs, despite the better clarity of the DTS track, the DD surround track is preferable.

Does anyone know the reasoning behind this, apart from trying to save disc space? If that is the only reason why bother putting a 5-channel-only DTS track in at all?
