    Hi all,

I hope someone can assist a newbie. I have been able to set up my new sony av amp and speakers etc and happy with sound etc. Only thing I can't understand is when I play a dvd with dts it does not appear in the receiver display on the amp. I thought the amp would be able to read the disc and do this automatically.

    Any views welcome,

    Thanks,

You have too choose dts from the audio or language menu.

This is true, and I have always found it a pain. I wonder why they can't auto detect it?

Because some people prefer the dolby track to the DTS track. Makes sense for the DVD player (which ususally doesnt know your sound setup) to default to the lowest common denominator
